This is not an exhaustive list, but a selection of recent incidents that illustrate how abortion and reproductive rights information, civil rights issues, and more are being suppressed around the world.

On 27 March 2026, Instagram and Facebook permanently disabled the accounts of internationally recognized multidisciplinary artist Stuart Sandford, citing “fraud and deception” without meaningful explanation or recourse.

On April 8, 2026, @acceptandproceed was hacked, with access taken over and a ransom message posted. Despite multiple appeals, no effective recovery support was provided, leaving the account erased with no clear path back.

During a Valentine’s Day sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) awareness campaign in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, multiple advocates’ accounts sharing campaign materials were fully suspended on X, while others faced repeated shadow banning.
Facebook Takedown: Justthepill
Facebook suspended Just The Pill, a telehealth abortion provider that has delivered over 10,000 abortions since 2020 and supports hundreds of patients each month. Removing trusted healthcare providers from digital platforms cuts off access to critical information and care, especially for people in underserved areas.
Instagram Takedown: @tqfc.clubhouse
Meta removed @tqfc.clubhouse in the Netherlands alongside dozens of queer accounts. The takedown erased a real, offline community space and raises serious concerns about discriminatory platform enforcement under the EU Digital Services Act.
Facebook Takedown: @WomenHelpWomen Poland
Facebook has removed the account of @WomenHelpWomen, the international feminist organization working to expand access to abortion worldwide through telehealth support, accurate information, and partnerships with local feminist groups.
WhatsApp Takedown: Línea @SomosJacarandas
On December 10, 2025, WhatsApp again restricted Línea Jacarandas, a free health line providing abortion and sexual and reproductive healthcare information in Colombia, cutting off access for women seeking time sensitive care.
Facebook Takedown: @WomenHelpWomen
Facebook has removed the account of @WomenHelpWomen, the international feminist organisation working to expand access to abortion worldwide through telehealth support, accurate information, and partnerships with local feminist groups.
50+ Queer Accounts Erased in One Week
Instagram has removed and restricted more than 30 queer-focused accounts, including personal and community-run pages that organize events, produce cultural work, and sustain essential networks across major European cities.

Instagram has removed the account of @thequeeragenda.ams, a community based queer cultural platform in Amsterdam that organizes events, photo projects and nightlife performances, and collaborates with art institutes, museums, dating apps and clubs.
Instagram Shadowban: @indigenouswomenrising
Instagram is heavily limiting the reach of @indigenouswomenrising, a Native-led organization providing abortion and midwifery funding for Indigenous people in the U.S. and Canada, and distributing free menstrual products.
