Meta suspends Médecins du Monde SW health programs

📅 Date: May 2026
📍 Region: Europe
📱 Platform: Instagram
🔗 Accounts: @jasminemdm, @tds_rosela, @assogriselidis

In May 2026, Instagram disabled multiple community health accounts supporting SW communities, including Médecins du Monde programs @jasminemdm and @tds_rosela, as well as @assogriselidis, a community health organization providing sexual health education, HIV/STI prevention information, harm reduction resources, rights based outreach, and access to healthcare and community support.

These organizations receive public state funding and work directly with marginalized communities, providing critical public health information, prevention resources, access to care, and support services for populations facing stigma, violence, and social exclusion.

The accounts were suspended or permanently removed with vague or no meaningful explanations provided. In several cases, appeals resulted only in generic responses or permanent disabling despite the accounts sharing educational and public health content.

For these organizations, Instagram is not simply a communication platform. It functions as essential infrastructure for outreach, prevention work, community support, public health education, and access to services.

The removals disrupt access to harm reduction information, healthcare resources, and rights based support for communities that already face significant barriers to healthcare and visibility.

This case is not isolated. Repro Uncensored continues to document growing waves of censorship affecting community health organizations, feminist movements, queer communities, reproductive health groups, artists, and cultural platforms globally, with hundreds of reports documented in recent months.

Under the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA), users and organizations should receive clear explanations, transparency around enforcement decisions, and access to meaningful redress. In these cases, the process provided little clarity and no meaningful internal remedy.

These cases raise serious concerns about opaque enforcement systems, automated moderation, and the growing restriction of public health, harm reduction, feminist, queer, and rights based information online.
