In the past month, Repro Uncensored has documented more than 70 cases of censorship affecting queer, reproductive health, and creative accounts across Instagram and Facebook.
These accounts span a wide range of communities, including artists, cultural spaces, nightlife venues, sexual health educators, and grassroots organizers. Many function as key infrastructures for sharing information, building community, and sustaining cultural expression.
Across cases, accounts were suspended, removed, or restricted, often without clear explanation or prior warning. In many instances, users reported limited or ineffective pathways to appeal or recover their accounts.
For these communities, platforms are not simply tools for communication. They are essential spaces to document work, distribute information, organize, and maintain visibility.
The removal of these accounts results in the loss of cultural material, reduced access to vital health information, and the disruption of networks built over time.
This pattern is not isolated. It reflects broader enforcement trends that disproportionately affect queer communities, reproductive health content, and cultural production online.
Many of the affected accounts belong to users based in the European Union, raising concerns under the Digital Services Act, which is intended to ensure transparency, clear explanations, and access to meaningful redress when platforms take action against users.
Cases like these point to structural issues in how platforms govern visibility and access, and how digital infrastructures shape the preservation of cultural expression, community formation, and access to information.
